Selena Gomez has a worldwide name as an actor and singer. Disney's Wizards of Waverly Place, one of the biggest projects that she has been a part of and has achieved the most successes, is her own project. Her real name is Selena Marie Gomez. Selena Marie Gomez was born Grand Prairie, Texas on July 22 the 22nd of July, 1992. Amanda Cornett and Ricardo Gomez were her parents. Her mother was only sixteen at the time Selena was born. Her first professional stage show job at the age of nine in the role of Gianna on Barney and her Friends. The role was to be one of the kids who played with the world's best-known reptile, the purple anthropomorphic dinosaur. Selena worked on several episodes from episodes 7 and 8 in the period between 2001 between 2001 and 2003. Selena Gomez wasn't the sole singer to work in Barney & His Friends from 2001 to 2003. Demi Lorvato joined the cast also. Selena Gomez tried out for various roles following the departure of Barney and his Friends, but was not successful. After the departure of the show Selena auditioned for a variety of roles in different film and television shows, but wasn't very successful. The film also featured her in the role of Emily Grace Garcia, a person she wrote as a musical in 2006's Brain Zapped.
